Hightstown Borough Police Department officers were in the right place at right time July 10 – not once, but twice.
Officers administered Narcan to two separate individuals during two separate incidents of an opiate overdose.
In the first incident, Officers Kenneth Larsen and Daniel Abbatemarco responded to a call at 9:36 a.m., for a male subject in cardiac arrest, secondary to a heroin overdose, at his residence.
The officers found a 37-year-old male victim, in cardiac arrest, along with paraphernalia consistent with heroin use. The officers performed CPR and provided the victim with 2mg of Nalaxone, via intranasal, reviving the man, who was later transported to a local hospital and later released.
In the second call, Officers Philip Esposito, Kenneth Larsen, and Daniel Abbatemarco responded to a report at 6:21 p.m. of a 26-year-old male, unresponsive from an opiate overdose, specifically heroin.
The officers arrived on location and found the victim outside of a residence unresponsive with gasping breaths. The officers provided oxygen and gave the victim 2mg of Nalaxone, via intranasal. The subject did not respond, immediately to the intervention, and was transferred to the care of EMS and paramedics. The subject was transported to a local hospital, where he is now conscious and continuing to receive treatment.
