Hillsborough Township Police found an unconscious driver Friday, July 15, when they responded at at 8:17 a.m. to a motor vehicle accident on Amwell Road near Pioneer Drive.
Driver Sharon Kuhns, 53, of Flemington was found to be unconscious. She was taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick.
Police said preliminary investigation determined Ms. Kuhns was driving a Mazda sedan east on Amwell Road when it drifted over the double-yellow center line and struck a Toyota sedan driven by Ganesh Natarajan, 34, of Hillsborough coming in the opposite direction. Mr. Natarajan, was not injured in the accident.
After the impact her auto hit a curb and a utility pole on the westbound shoulder. Mr. Natarajan’s vehicle struck a second utility pole, also on the westbound shoulder, as well as a street sign.
A portion of Amwell Road was closed for about one hour while the crash was investigated. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the township police at 908-369-4323, ext. 8.
In addition to police, responding were the Hillsborough Township Rescue Squad, Hillsborough Township fire companies and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson (Somerset) Medical Center.
