Playhouse 22, East Brunswick’s community theater, will hold open auditions for its upcoming production of “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 9 at the theater, East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Rd. Callbacks are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 11.
The play, a comedy by Christopher Durang, is set in the Bucks County, Pa., childhood home of Vanya and Sonia, middle-aged siblings who spend their time bickering and complaining about the disappointments of their lives. Their glamorous movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new, young boyfriend, Spike, and threatens to sell the family’s house.
Show dates are Nov. 4-20. The production will be directed by Lynn Polan.
