Doug Schorpp of Schorpp Capital will present a free College Planning Workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the South Brunswick Library, 110 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction.
The workshop will focus on high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Areas to be addressed include how to increase college-related tax deductions and tax credits; how to pick colleges that will give the best financial aid package; how to attend an expensive private university for less than a state school; which assets are taken into consideration when the U.S. Department of Education calculates the Expected Family Contribution (EFC); how to pay for college in a failing economy without relying on 529 plans, expensive private student loans or raiding retirement accounts; how to get ahead by developing a customized plan to meet all college costs incurred as a family; and how to lower out-of-pocket costs.
To register, contact Barbara Battles at the South Brunswick Library by emailing [email protected] or calling 732-329-4000, ext. 7637.
