Peter L. Gerke, 61

Peter L. Gerke, 61, of Pennington, NJ, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 24, 2016.
Born in Stamford, CT. Peter was a longtime New Jersey area resident. He graduated from Villanova University and continued Masters course work at Rutgers University and SUNY. Peter was an active member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Gerke worked for many years as a Hearing Officer for the State of New Jersey. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Villanova Wildcats. Pete loved his family, especially his daughter, Anastasia, his wife, Margaret and numerous friends. He also loved to vacation, to read and play golf. 
Predeceased by his parents, George L. and Betty Ann (Koch) Gerke;
brothers, Robert F. and Matthew C. Gerke; and mother-in-law, Florence Flynn; he is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Margaret (Peg) Gerke; his daughter, Anastasia (Annie); his brothers and sistersin-law, Daniel A. and Andrea Gerke and Paul A. and Gee Gerke; his sisters-in-law, Susan and Sherry Gerke; his father-in-law, Gerald Flynn; his nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Keith, Sam, Kayla and Sarah; and a large extended family and host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016, at 9:45 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington, NJ 08534. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Gerke’s memory to American Diabetes by visiting In Memory Of at www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
