Something funny will be going on at Association Park this weekend.
Hightstown Theater in the Park will present “The Odyssey: by Thespis and the Peloponnesian Midwest Regional Third Place Chorus,” a comedy by Don Zolidis.
The free performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 29 and July 30, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Hightsown’s Association Park, one block north of Stockton on Park Lane.
Twenty-three young actors ranging in age from 11 to 17, led by five student directors and creative directors Jonathon Martin and Christine Johnson, will present the hilarious tale of The Peloponnesian Midwest Regional Chorus who always place last in every Greek chorus competition.
Enter Thespis, with a risky idea: a full theatrical production. With the help of his buddies — Directus, Settius, Propius, Costumius, and of course, the benevolent Greek Gods — the journey of Odysseus is revolutionized. The birth of theater and the plights of the homeward-bound hero have never been this hilarious.
Hightstown Theater in the Park provides a learning and performing experience that is open to all students in the community. Financial assistance is available so everyone can participate.
