SOUTH RIVER – The South River Police Department announced on July 25 that the department has added two new social media pages to connect with residents in the area.
The police department has been active on Facebook since 2012, posting event photos, department news, special events, crime alerts, traffic updates and road closures. After receiving positive feedback from area residents, the police department is now active on Instagram and Twitter, according to a statement prepared by the police department.
The Instagram page will feature select pictures from the police department’s day-to-day adventures and happenings.
They will also remain more active through Twitter and will include duplicated messages from Facebook, Nixle and Instagram with the occasional short informational post, according to the statement.
Officers encourage the use of social media to share photos and information from their interactions, the statement said.
“In today’s world, it’s very important for our department to be in touch with our community and interact with them via social media,” Chief Mark Tinitigan said in the statement. “Sharing information with our residents and keeping them informed is one of our department’s priorities.”
“Our expansion into additional social media platforms will give our community multiple options to stay updated from and interact with our department.”
