Dzintra (Krumkalns) Paupe died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Foulk Manor South in Wilmington, Delaware. She was 83. Born in Liepaja, Latvia she immigrated to the US after World War II. Originally settling in New York, after marriage she and her husband lived in Franklin Township and then Princeton New Jersey for most of her life. She worked at Rutgers University for over 20 years retiring in 1993 as a Research Librarian for the Medical Library. In 2011 she and her husband moved to Delaware.
She was a member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Brunswick and Lakewood. She was active and supported the cultural activities of the New Jersey Latvian Society. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren spending time with them in Princeton, the Poconos, Outer Banks, and other various trips. Dzintra also loved dancing with her husband, her beloved pets, reading and tending & photographing her flowers.
She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Janus Krumkalns. Her husband, Ilmars Paupe, died in 2012. Surviving are her son Valdis Paupe and his wife Joann of Odessa, DE; her daughter Daina Paupe Henry and her husband John of Newport News, Virginia; and three grandsons – Alexanders Paupe and Sean and Dylan Henry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by burial of her cremains in Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a local pet shelter or to the Latvian Boy Scout Association is suggested.
