PLAINSBORO — Like the U.S. Marines, Plainsboro Township is looking for a few good men and women — to volunteer to serve on its Planning Board and Human Relations Council.
The terms of three of the 11 members of the Planning Board will expire on Dec. 31, and township officials are seeking township residents to fill those vacancies. Two of the three seats are for regular members, who serve a four-year term. The third is for alternate member no. 2, who serves a two-year term.
The Planning Board, which meets on the third Monday of the month, reviews development applications, adopts the township’s Master Plan and reviews zoning ordinance changes for Township Committee. The Master Plan sets out the town’s vision for itself, and the zoning ordinance implements it.
At the Human Relations Council, there is a need for volunteers to fill two current vacancies on the board. There is a vacancy for an alternate member, whose term will expire on Dec. 31. The second vacancy is for a full member, whose three-year term will end on Dec. 31, 2018. The council meets on the second Thursday of every month.
The Human Relations Council was established in 1994, and develops programs and approaches to establish community awareness, understanding and appreciation for the diverse ethnic groups that call Plainsboro Township their home.
Prospective Planning Board members should complete the citizen leadership application at www.plainsboronj.com/FormCenter/Township-Clerk-5/Citizens-Leadershipo-Form-44, or call the Township Clerk’s Office at 609-799-0909, ext. 2547, for more information.
