OLD BRIDGE — An investigation is continuing into the motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Marlboro resident.
Adam Rarela was pronounced dead at the intersection of Route 9 north and Old Mill Road, Old Bridge, at 7:18 a.m. Aug. 5, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Old Bridge Police Chief William Volkert.
Rarela was the passenger in a box truck which was heading north on Route 9 when it reportedly struck the rear of a dump truck which had just started to move after the light at Old Mill Road turned green, according to officials.
The accident occurred at 6:52 a.m., according to police. Authorities did not release the name of the driver of the vehicle in which Rarela was the passenger or the name of the driver who was operating the dump truck that was struck by the box truck.
The driver of the dump truck was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, and was later released after being treated for injuries.
