SCOTT FRIEDMAN

Assistant conductor needed for VOICES choral group

VOICES, one of the premier choral groups in the Princeton area, has an opening starting in October for an assistant conductor to Dr. Lyn Ransom, VOICES founder and music director.

The two-year position is designed for an early career conductor who plans to spend his or her life in choral music. The job offers opportunities to rehearse and conduct skilled adult singers, many of whom have degrees in music, or currently study voice.

The assistant conductor will lead parts at each rehearsal and conduct on most concerts.

A monthly stipend is provided.

The music for VOICES’ 30th anniversary season includes Mozart’s “Magnificat” KV 193, Bach’ s “Cantata 142,” Brahms’ “Requiem,” Thompson’s “Frostiana,” carol arrangements, Irish tunes and spirituals.

VOICES also performs at outreach concerts and for the Young Composers Project for children ages 5-12.

Anyone interested should send a resume, the link to a five-minute video sample, which shows rehearsal skills, contact information for two references and availability to audition on Sept. 20 or 26 to Dr. Lyn Ransom at [email protected], with a copy to Linda Weaver, board secretary/archivist, at [email protected].

Deadline is Sept. 15.
