TLC’s first scripted series, Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home, debuts on Monday, Aug. 22 at 9 p.m. This 8-part drama tells the story of a young woman from a modest upbringing who discovers she may have a bright future in Washington D.C.’s fast-paced political scene. When Anna causes a major political scandal and makes national headlines for her part in an affair with one of the nation’s most powerful players, she is driven back to her trailer park roots in the town of Happy, Alabama. There, she reunites with family and confronts her high school sweetheart. The series stars Danielle Savre and Kelly Sullivan, along with guest stars Heather Locklear and Matt Battaglia.
SundanceTV will explore the world of organized crime with its U.S. premiere of Gomorrah on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 10 p.m. This critically acclaimed Italian series is based on the best-selling book by journalist Roberto Saviano. Set in the suburbs of Naples, each episode focuses on the inside story of Camorra, the fierce Neapolitan crime organization, told through the eyes of Ciro Di Marzio (played by Marco D’Amore), the right hand of the clan’s godfather, Pietro Savastano (played by Fortunato Cerlino). SundanceTV has acquired seasons one and two, each consisting of 12 one-hour episodes.
AMC’s fan favorite original series, Fear the Walking Dead, returns with eight new episodes starting Sunday, Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. The Clark, Manawa and Salazar families are fractured. The events that took place at the Abigail compound have set all our heroes adrift. Now they must forge their own paths to survive.
Food Network will premiere its new season of Chopped Teen Tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 10 p.m. Hosted by Ted Allen, sixteen young chefs-in-training will compete to become the grand champion and score the $25,000 prize, while testing their skills with appetizers, entrees and desserts.
