Life Scout Austin Aitken, Monroe Boy Scout Troop No. 60, will hold a Bicycle Rodeo 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 20 in the covered hockey rink at the Monroe Township Recreation Center, 120 Monmouth Road. The event, which is designed to promote bike safety and to educate young cyclists, will take place rain or shine.
Youngsters are invited to bring their bikes and helmets to participate at various stations and learn how to ride safely and enjoy the health and environmental benefits of cycling. There will be inspection stations for bike helmets, tire pressure, brakes and chains. Game stations will include newspaper/bucket toss, “How Slow Can You Go,” an obstacle course and more. Local police will participate with a speed radar check and an impaired goggle station.
Members of the public are invited to attend and support the Scout’s Eagle project.
