A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle struck a car, flinging him off his motorcycle and into a second car on Mercer Road at the Mercer Road bridge Aug. 13, according to the Princeton Police Department.
Alonso Calix, 34, of Trenton, was traveling north on Mercer Road on his 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle when he failed to navigate a curve in the road, striking a southbound 2000 Volkswagen driven by Luis Estrada, 35, of Princeton, police said.
Mr. Calix was thrown from his motorcycle and struck a second car in the accident, which occurred at 2:20 p.m., police said. The air-borne motorcyclist struck a 2006 Toyota Prius, driven by Alexandra Schaich-Borg, 31, of Princeton.
Mr. Calix suffered serious internal injuries and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton by the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad, and paramedics from Capital Health, police said. Mr. Calix remains in critical condition as of Thursday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Neither of the two car drivers was injured.
Mercer Road was closed for about three hours while police investigated the accident. The Princeton Fire Department’s Fire Police assisted with traffic control while the road was closed. No summonses have been issued at this point.
