CENTRAL JERSEY: Donnelly adds two local newspaper groups

Richard Donnelly has acquired two New Jersey newspaper groups, Greater Media Newspapers and the Sun Newspaper Group.
Mr. Donnelly, who has a controlling interest in Packet Media LLC through his acquisition of Broad Street Media earlier this summer, purchased the Sun group of Haddonfield on Aug. 18. This includes the Princeton Sun as well Sun newspapers in Haddonfield, Moorestown, Voorhees, Cherry Hill, Marlton, Mount Laurel, Med¬ford, Shamong and Tab¬er¬nacle. The Sun newspapers were published by Elauwit Media.
The acquisition of Greater Media Newspapers, which includes the News-Transcript, three Sentinel newspapers and six others, is expected to be finalized in mid-September, according to a Greater Media announcement today.
Greater Media Newspapers and the Sun newspapers will be published by Newspaper Media Group, one of the Donnelly companies. Broad Street Media, along with a controlling interest in Packet Media, also publishes the Northeast Times, the Star, South Philly Review and Philly Weekly in Philadelphia, Midweek Wire in Bucks County, the Wire and Gloucester County Living in southern New Jersey and Football Stories magazine in New Jersey.
Mr. Donnelly’s combined companies now include 35 newspapers and about 275 employees, according to the announcement.
Mr. Donnelly also owns Donnelly Distribution of Pennsauken, which distributes the Packet newspapers along with Broad Street Media’s other publications.
