JACKSON – Two veteran employees of the Jackson Police Department have retired.
Capt. Steven Laskiewicz said that as of Aug. 31, Detective Sgt. Denis Campbell and Telecommunications Officer Robin Russell have concluded their service with the police department.
Campbell retired after 26 years with the police department. He served in positions in the Patrol Division and in the Detective Bureau. He was promoted to sergeant in 2002 and served as a supervisor in the Detective Bureau until his retirement.
Laskiewicz said Russell’s voice was one that residents heard when they called the police department. Russell, who served the agency for 27 years, was in communication with Jackson’s police officers as they responded to calls for service.
In other news, Sgt. Frank Mendez has transitioned to his new assignment to fill the vacancy in the Detective Bureau left by Campbell’s retirement.
Laskiewicz said Mendez came to the Jackson Police Department in 2001 from the Keansburg Police Department. He served with the Brookdale Community College Police Department prior to his service in Keansburg.
In Jackson, Mendez served assignments in the Patrol Bureau and the Detective Bureau. He was promoted to sergeant in 2011 and served as a patrol squad supervisor.
