Dr. Paul C. Murray, P.h.D. passed away after a short illness on Aug. 23, 2016 at the age of 91. He lived in Princeton, South Brunswick for many years with his wife of 50 years, Joan Murray (Geisler). Joan died in 2014 after an extended illness where Paul served her as an exemplary caregiver. He was a retired physicist from RCA and owned rental property locally and in the Virgin Islands. Paul was a member of several community organizations and was a frequent and articulate citizen at local council meetings. He participated in many activities at the South Brunswick Senior Center and was an energetic, outdoor enthusiast. He was an avid hiker with the Hiphikers, and he could frequently be seen running, jogging or riding his bike in the neighborhood. His friends remember him as a thorough researcher, a Mr. Fixit, and a kind, helpful, thoughtful gentlemen who was proud of the achievements of his two sons. Paul was born in NYC and raised in Bronxville NY. He graduated from The Peddie School, went to Cornell University as an undergrad, received his masters from The University of Delaware, and received his PhD from Purdue University. In school Paul excelled at swimming the butterfly breaststroke and has since been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at both The Peddie School and Cornell University.
Predeceased by Joan and his parents Leo & Ruth Dunton Murray, Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia Liverman; two sons, George & wife Shelly Murray of Marmora, NJ and Peter Murray & wife Uta Wussing of Cortlandt Manor, NY; and 4 grandchildren, Jasmin and Ian, Ryan and Kaitlyn; and his sister, Audrey Mayer of Ogunquit, ME.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on Saturday, September 10th. The service will be at 2pm at Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, 246 Belle Mead- Griggstown Rd, Belle Mead, NJ 08502. The repass gathering will be at the family home after the service, 732-329- 6309. All are welcome to attend. Burial was private at the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Franklin Rainear, Jr.
