To the editor:
My name is Jean Trujillo and I am writing to introduce myself as a candidate for the Hillsborough Board of Education. I am running for a seat on the school board because I believe I can make a positive contribution to all our children’s education.
I have lived in Hillsborough for 14 years and my children attend Hillsborough’s excellent public schools. I am an engineer by training, but more importantly, I am a practical problem solver. Over the last few years, I have volunteered extensively at my children’s schools. I do my homework and research to make educated decisions.
I invite the community to share with me their thoughts on what Hillsborough schools are doing right and to offer suggestions for improvement. I’ll start by saying our strengths are our teachers and staff; one area for improvement is for the district to improve parent communication and transparency.
