OLD BRIDGE — The discussion on the township’s Fair Share Housing Obligation will continue at the next council meeting later this month.
The special counsel on the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH), the Township Council and Mark Remsa, a professional planner, who are assisting the township in regard to Affordable Housing Updates and the proposed COAH rules, are expected to be in attendance at the Sept. 26 meeting.
In order to meet the township’s Fair Share Housing obligation, Township Attorney Mark Roselli has said township officials have come to a proposed settlement plan for the township to provide 1,300 affordable housing units.
However, township officials said recent new court rulings regarding COAH may affect the township, calling for amendments to the proposed settlement plan.
The proposed plan included ordinances of five zones that would allow inclusionary developments with a certain percentage of affordable housing units.
