• A multi-family community yard sale will be held at Jensen’s Deep Run community center, 20 Longview Trail, Cream Ridge (Plumsted Township) on Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (rain or shine). All are welcome to attend. The entrance to Jensen’s Deep Run is on Route 537, a short distance east of the Route 537 and Route 539 intersection. Proceed to stop sign; community center is on the right.
• Archives and History Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan. More than 60 local and state history organizations will have displays about topics relating to New Jersey history and their organization. To become an exhibitor, call 732-308-3771.
• The Horsemen’s Association of Millstone Township will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Sept 20 at the Millstone Community Center, Stagecoach Road (next to the firehouse). Anyone who has an interest in horses is welcome to attend the meeting and learn about upcoming trail rides, speakers and other activities. Details: www.hamt.org
• The Ladies of St. Joseph, Millstone Township, will sponsor a bus tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., on Oct. 11. The cost is $99 per person and includes a buffet lunch at the Thayer Hotel. Bus will leave from St. Joseph Church at 8:15 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. There will be a guided tour of West Point at 1 p.m. and free time from 3-4:30 p.m. at the academy. • The Board of Fire Commissioners for Millstone Township Fire District No. 1 has a vacancy due to the resignation of one of the elected commissioners. Any Millstone resident interested in filling this vacancy should send a resume and letter of interest to the board by Sept. 23. • An identity theft symposium will be offered to the public from 6:15-8:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan. There is no cost to attend. Presenters from Microsoft and the Division of Consumer Affairs will teach attendees how to troubleshoot and protect identity, and privacy and personal data from being stolen online. • The Millstone Elks will host their first Antique and Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Millstone Township Middle School, 5 Dawson Ct., Millstone Township. All years, makes and models welcome; $15 pre-registration, $20 day of show. Free admission to all spectators. Proceeds to benefit children with special needs. Music by Wolfman Jerry. • The Villagers of Allentown will begin their 49th year with a salad and ice cream social on Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Allentown First Aid Squad building, Waker Avenue. Local Abundance will present the program. New members are welcome to join the Villagers. Details: 609-758-3711.

• Vendors are being sought for a fall flea market to be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Road, Upper Freehold Township (Allentown), from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 24 (rain or shine) in the church parking lot. • The Monmouth County Genealogy Society will present its fall workshop, “An In-Depth Look at Federal Census Records,” on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 72 Broad St., Eatontown. Four presenters will focus on that topic. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $15 for society members ($20 at the door) and $20 for non-members. • Freehold Art Society will meet at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, 125 Symmes Drive, Manalapan, on Sept. 28 at 6:45 p.m. Freehold Township artist Hillary Binder-Klein will present “Let’s Talk About Framing” and discuss how art work can be enhanced by using one of three attractive framing choices. • Brandeis University Professor Thomas Doherty will speak about The Great American (Television) Novel. Doherty is a professor of American Studies and a cultural historian with special interests in Hollywood cinema. The Sept. 20 luncheon in Freehold Township is sponsored by the New Jersey Region of the Brandeis National Committee. Proceeds will support research into neurodegenerative diseases.
