The Monroe Township Green Fair is planned for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 8 at Monroe Township High School, 200 Schoolhouse Road.
The event, sponsored by the Monroe Township Environmental Commission and the Monroe Township Library along with Jamesburg community leaders, is designed to educate the community, especially young students, about healthy and sustainable living and how to become responsible environmental stewards.
The fair will feature vendors in categories including health/wellness, healthy living, alternative energy, recycled products, organic pet products and more. Representatives from the Monroe Township Community Garden will be on hand along with local-, county- and state-government organizations and presenters to educate the community on the environment, parks and transportation. The library’s new bookmobile, the Department of Public Works EnviroMobile, a hybrid/electric vehicle and the Middlesex County shredding truck will be available in the parking lot.
Area hospitals will provide flu shots, health screenings and brochures on health and wellness. There will be a farmers market hosted by Farmer Al’s, instructional yoga and Zumba classes, healthy-cooking demonstrations, children’s activities and story times hosted by the library, Mexican food and a healthy-snack food truck.
