Gene P. Ramsey, age 77, passed away Friday, Sept 9th, 2016, in Capital Health at Fuld. Born in Parkersburg W. Va. in 1939, he resided in the Pennington area for 47 yrs.
He was a graduate of Parkersburg H.S. Class of 1957. Shortly after H.S., he joined the Air Force and served until 1962 during the cold war. After serving his country, he was employed by McGraw Hill, Hightstown NJ as a systems analyst for 36 yrs. After his retirement, he pursued his passion for astronomy by joining the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton located in Washington Crossing State Park. He loved sharing his passion for exploring the wonders of the cosmos; therefore, he was involved in the outreach program and introduced astronomy to scouting groups, schools, and other various organizations. He was also a key holder of the club, and helped train many new members. He also spoke at seminars and conferences about astronomy.
Brother of the late Jack Ramsey, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 yrs, Dolores Mileski Ramsey, three children; Michael Ramsey of Pennington, Cindy Ramsey Williamson of Hopewell, and Joseph Ramsey of Ewing; three grandsons, Jacob Williamson, Garrett Williamson, and Logan Williamson of Hopewell; his sister Sharon Harper and her husband George of Harrisville W. Va., and his nephew Daniel as well as many aunts and uncles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am in St. James Church. 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington. Calling hours will be Thursday evening 6-8pm at Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington.
