MARLBORO – The 33rd annual Marlboro Day celebration will take place on Sept. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Marlboro Municipal Complex, 1979 Township Drive.

Recreation Director Ted Ernst said there will be food vendors, ice cream trucks, public service representatives, crafters, representatives of nonprofit organizations and commercial vendors for patrons to visit.

“Marlboro Day is a great community event,” he said. “There are a lot of activities for people of all ages. It’s a good way for people to get a sense of what is available in their community and to enjoy a leisurely end-of-summer day.”

For those who want to keep up with what is happening on a Sunday afternoon in the National Football League, there will be a lounge where guests can watch football with Mayor Jonathan Hornik.

“Marlboro Day is my favorite event of the year and 2016 marks 33 years since it began,” Hornik said. “I have been attending Marlboro Day since I was a kid and each year it gets bigger and better.

“It takes many staff members and volunteers to make these events as successful as they are. The (employees in the) Recreation Department and the volunteers (on the) recreation and swim advisory committee work year round to make this day a success.

“We could not run these events without the police, the Department of Public Works, the Police Explorers, the Teen Advisory Committee and our volunteer first responders. I encourage all residents to come enjoy the day and to stop by my football lounge to watch the game and say hello,” Hornik said.

There will be parking available at the nearby Marlboro Public Library and shuttle buses to transfer patrons between the library and the municipal complex.

The rain date for Marlboro Day is Sept. 25.
