Muhlenberg College senior quarterback Nick Palladino of Millstone was named Centennial Conference offensive player of the week for the fifth time in his collegiate career.
Palladino accounted for four touchdowns and tied a school record with his eighth career 300-yard passing game in the Mules’ 35-19 victory over Franklin & Marshall College at the Mules’ Scotty Wood Stadium. He completed 25-of-30 passes for 308 yards and scoring passes of 51, 37 and 31 yards against a Diplomat defense that allowed only 205 total yards the previous week. Palladino also rushed for an 11-yard touchdown for his 18th career rushing touchdown.
The 308 yards pushed Palladino’s career total to 8,056, making him the fourth quarterback in Centennial Conference history to throw for more than 8,000 yards. He also went over 9,000 yards of total offense for his career (9,298). Palladino leads all active Division III quarterbacks in career yards of total offense and ranks third on the conference’s all-time list.
Palladino improved his career record as a starter to 26-7, leading an offense that rolled up 522 yards and averaged 7.6 yards per play.
Muhlenberg (2-0) travels to McDaniel College Sept. 17 for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
