The East Brunswick Historical Society, 78 Milltown Road, will present a new lecture series titled “Commercials and Jingles From the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.”
Lawrence Goldsmith will offer the first talk, “Jingles,” 2 p.m. Oct. 2. Goldsmith will screen a video and discuss how, through catchy jingles, advertising influenced lives and individuals living as part of a “perfect family.”
Ann Alvarez will present a slide show about “The Not-So-Quiet ’50s” 2 p.m. Oct. 23. Discussion will focus on what the colorful ads of the time reveal about the people of the time.
Refreshments will be served at both events.
