The Long Branch Concordance Family Success Center will hold its first Fall Harvest fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 16 at St. James’ Church, 300 Broadway, Long Branch.
The fundraiser celebrates the fall harvest of the 7th Avenue Community Garden, which is managed by the Long Branch Concordance in partnership with the City of Long Branch to provide free, nutritious fruits, vegetables and herbs to the coastal community.
Master Gardener Mark Davis and local families who farm their own plots as well as community plots will be in attendance. The day’s events include the opportunity to pre-order handmade, seasonal Thanksgiving pies from Wemrock Orchards of Freehold during the event through Nov. 6. Pre-ordered pies will be available for pickup on Nov. 23 at St. James’ Church between 3-6 p.m.
The event will include a farmers’ market selling fresh, organic produce grown by the families of the 7th Avenue Community Garden. Children will have an opportunity to learn yoga with a free class by Amy Zambrano of Amy’s Yogabilities. Popcorn, cotton candy and 50/50 raffle tickets will be available for sale.
A generous percentage of the events’ proceeds will benefit the 7th Avenue Community Garden and the Long Branch Concordance Family Success Center, which builds strong, resilient, self-reliant families in Monmouth County by providing free, educational programs, workshops, parent/child activities and referral services.
St. James’ Church will hold a bake sale during this time, with proceeds benefiting the church.
