EAST WINDSOR – If you have ever been cleaning out the medicine cabinet and come across an old prescription that wasn’t quite finished, you may be wondering what to do with it.
In August, East Windsor township, in partnership with non-profit corporation American Medicine Chest Challenge, installed a permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the Police/Court Building on 80 One Mile Road, and it would be accessible to residents on a 24/7 basis.
At the Sept. 20 Township Council meeting, Mayor Janice S. Mironov said that a letter was received by the East Windsor police department from the prosecutor’s office announcing a “special event” to take place on Saturday Oct. 22, where materials will be provided and a pickup will be done.
Council members spoke about taking this opportunity to promote the new permanent drop location, and also discussed different locations a Medicine Drop Box flier could be posted for maximum visibility.
The ultimate goal is to get the word out to the residents of East Windsor that this is no longer a one-time event throughout the year. This box is the township’s commitment to allow residents to dispose of unused prescriptions in an environmentally safe and responsible way.
Look for additional information about the Oct. 22 event to be posted on the East Windsor website (www.east-windsor.nj.us/) in the coming weeks. When navigating to the East Windsor website, viewers will notice a different look and feel than in the past. The township launched its brand new web design on Sept. 20.
The home page for the new website includes an informative scroll that cycles through current township news, as well as upcoming events. In addition, one can navigate to virtually any area of the township web page simply by using the drop down menus right across the top of the page.
Mayor Mironov did say that while the site is fully functional, it is brand new, and it may take a few days to ensure all links are working and redirecting properly.
