East Windsor Township’s Recycling Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the township Senior Center, 40 Lanning Boulevard.
Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor residents to dispose of unwanted and unneeded documents. There is a limit of 10 boxes per household, and the service is limited to East Windsor residents. No commercial entities are permitted.
“This is a great opportunity for township residents to dispose of old or confidential documents in a secure manner. Document shredding provides a non-recoverable tool for providing confidentiality and protecting against identify theft,” said Mayor Mironov.
At Recycling Day, the township will accept used computers and computer equipment for disposal in a “green” manner. Residents can drop off any desktop or laptop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, hard drives (external or internal), keyboards, mice, speakers, cords and cables, ink and toner cartridges and software. Individuals are responsible for removing data from hard drives and other storage media before donating them.
Residents also will be able to drop off and dispose of cell phones and toner cartridges, as well as fluorescent bulbs. The East Windsor Lions Club will be on-site collecting used eye glasses, which are cleaned and distributed for use to those in need.
RISE will have trucks on-site to collect clothing, shoes, blankets, housewares (plates, mugs and related items), working appliances, household electronics and usable furniture. Clothing should be brought in plastic bags. Charitable donation receipts will be provided.“We are committed to recycling in East Windsor Township and thereby reducing the township’s solid waste costs, while helping to preserve a greener environment,” said Mayor Mironov. “This is an environmentally positive and convenient opportunity for residents to dispose of unneeded items at no cost, to help support worthwhile area groups and efforts, while helping the Township reduce landfill costs and preserve the environment.”
The event is sponsored by Mayor Mironov and council members in conjunction with the East Windsor Clean Communities Committee.
