An evening of designer bags and bingo next month could help a local non-profit choir keep its 30th season going.
On Friday, Oct. 14, VOICES will host a Designer Bag Bingo fundraiser at the Hopewell Elementary School, with all proceeds going to support the group’s programming.
“We hope to welcome many members of the Hopewell community for a night of camaraderie,” VOICES Board Vice President Dr. Susan Evans said. “When planning our first fundraiser of the year, we thought it would be fun to host a fun event right here in town.”
Dubbed as the “perfect girls’ night out,” tickets for entry to the fundraiser will be $35. They can be purchased at www.voiceschorale.org.
This year, VOICES is celebrating its 30th season of performing choral music in the greater Princeton area. In addition to presenting at least two formal concert series each year, the organization is also committed to bringing music to under-served communities and youth.
One such instance was when the choir recently collaborated with other choir groups like the Trenton Children’s Choir and the Absalom Jones Inspirational Choir of Trinity Cathedral in Trenton and the outreach choir performs in facilities for people with mental and physical disabilities and the elderly.Since 1987, VOICES has hosted the Young Composers Project, which encourages young musicians ages 5–12 to compose music and lyrics that will be performed at a special concert each spring.
“When I began VOICES, I wanted to provide an opportunity for people to sing the world’s great music, as well as to preserve the classic choral tradition. And more importantly, I wanted to bring the music I loved to diverse audiences and encourage children to get involved in the musical process,” VOICES Founder and Music Director Dr. Lyn Ransom said. “The variety of fundraisers this year will help us do even more of this work going forward.”
Starting at 7:15 p.m., the choir will host multiple bingo rounds, with each one featuring a different designer bag.
Among the designers up for grabs are: Michael Kors, kate spade, Coach and Vera Bradley.
Each ticket includes ten rounds of Bingo, desserts, and door prize tickets. Additional Bingo cards, daubers, and refreshments will be for sale.
There will also be a Tricky Tray raffle, featuring prizes from local restaurants and businesses.
VOICES is an auditioned chorus and chamber ensemble group of amateur and professional singers from New Jersey and Pennsylvania designed to deepen the public appreciation of vocal music by performing at a high artistic level and supporting the creation of new works.
