Holiday Express Clambake raises $110,000

More than 350 people attended the ninth annual Holiday Express Clambake, sponsored by Shore Point Distributing Company, on Sept. 18, on the beach at McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch.

An estimated $110,000 was raised to support Holiday Express’ mission, which is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support, and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year.  This year’s event honored Peggy Weil, President of Travel Leaders of Neptune, who has been a staunch supporter of Holiday Express.

With a threat of rain looming all day, the rain held off and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean provided a perfect back- drop for the evening.  Attendees were treated to an evening of ocean breezes, a lavish buffet, dancing, and entertainment.  The night was a huge success made possible by generous individuals and companies who donated money, time, and auction items.

Established by Tim McLoone in 1993, Holiday Express is a non-profit organization, comprised of more than 1,700 volunteers, including 150 professional rock, jazz, folk, gospel and pop musicians.

Proceeds from the Clambake will improve the quality of life for the 24,000 adults and children being served by Holiday Express at 90 charity events during the 2016 holiday season, including individuals with mental and physical challenges, veterans, individuals in addiction programs, those facing financial difficulties, and children with serious illnesses.

Every Holiday Express event is an interactive holiday party that comes complete with a live band, costume characters, dancing and smiles.
