Aiming to deter crimes and capture those who commit them, the Princeton Police Department is launching a voluntary initiative that asks residents and businesses to register their security surveillance cameras with the Police Department.
The new Community Camera Program will allow residents, business owners and other organizations to register surveillance cameras on their properties with the Police Department — but it will not allow the Police Department to access those cameras.
Registering a surveillance camera, however, will allow the Princeton Police Department to maintain a database of active cameras in the event that a crime occurs in the area.
Residents and business owners can voluntarily register their cameras on the Princeton Police Department’s website at www.pprincetonnj.gov/police/camera-registration.html, or by completing a short form at https://goo.gl/forms/CeID0aIprPUOVxQT2.
If anyone has questions, please call police Sgt. Chris Tash at 609-921-2100, ext. 2184.
