The Hightstown High School girls tennis team captured the first Mercer County Tournament team championship in program history with an impressive showing at Mercer County Park on Wednesday. The Rams won four of five flight championships to cruise to the team title. Second-seeded Avinka Naraparaju (above) won the first singles title with a 6-1, 6-0 win over top-seeded Anna Herning of Hopewell Valley. The Rams also picked up flight titles from Sahithi Muthyala at second singles, Arusha Rangu at third singles, and the first doubles team of Victoria Velez and Ritika Yadav. Hightstown finished with 23 1/2 points, which was six more than second-place West Windsor-Plainsboro South and Princeton.
