WHAT’S GOING ON for the week of 9/30/16

Sat., Oct. 1 
The Cranbury Arts Council will be holding a fall fundraiser event, which will be in two parts. The first will be a free community event at the Cranbury Brook Preserve on the West Property from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to stroll through the autumn woods to find numerous local artists painting en plein air. Guests will be able to catch a glimpse into the creative process and watch the artists create paintings right before their eyes. The afternoon will be followed by an event for adults in the new loft space at Molto Bene in Cranbury from 6 to 9 p.m. All of the paintings from the day will be on display and available for auction. There will be hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, and music. Tickets are $75 per person and space is limited. For ticket information, visit www.cranburyartscouncil.org. 

An exhibit featuring more than four hundred pieces of 20th Century costume jewelry will be available for viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cranbury Museum, 4 Park Place East. Famous makers such as Trifari, Weiss, Danecraft, Coro, Marcel Boucher, Sarah Coventry, Carolee, Napier, Hollycraft, Kramer, Florenza, Monet and Christian Dior are included in the collection. Pearls, rhinestones, cameos, mother of pearl, Bakelite and marcasite are represented, along with more than 75 Christmas pins. 

The Robbinsville Hamilton Rotary Club’s annual Art Auction & Silent Auction will be held at the Nottingham Ballroom, 200 Mercer Street, Hamilton Square. The Hightstown High School After Prom Committee is planning its Bingo fundraising event at the Hightstown High School cafeteria, 25 Leshin Lane, Hightstown. Doors open at 6 p.m. and Bingo will be played from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission for the event, for ages 18 and over, is $25, which includes four cards/15 games, light snacks and beverages. Additional boards will be available for purchase and there will be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will benefit the 2017 Hightstown High School after-prom event.
