• Affiliated Foot and Ankle Center, 4645 Route 9 north, Howell, will provide complimentary children’s foot and ankle exams from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 8. There will be refreshments. Children who exhibit in-toeing, heel pain, flat feet, ingrown toenails, plantar warts, pain or tiredness of the feet or legs, limping, falling or tripping may feel free to visit the office.
• The Jackson Library will host a credit score and home buying workshop with mortgage banker Robert LaPlante from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 12. Attendees will learn tips and techniques to raise their credit score. Registration required. Details: 732-928-4400 (option 4).
• A Columbus Day vendor sale fundraiser will be held in the Southard Fire Department banquet room, 4611 Route 9, Howell, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10. All are welcome to attend. There will be more than 20 vendors, including home party companies, handmade items, sweet treats, a photo booth, demos, free coffee and music. Proceeds will go to the Alive Inside Foundation.
• The volunteers of the Hope Fire Company No. 1 will present their annual all-you-can-eat, family style turkey dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the firehouse, 82 Route 526, Upper Freehold Township. Sit down tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children and free for youngsters 6 and under. A take-out dinner is $18. All are welcome to attend. Details: 609-259-7200.
• Archives and History Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Manalapan. More than 60 local and state history organizations will have displays about topics relating to New Jersey history and their organization. All are welcome to attend.
• The Jackson Memorial High School Jaguar Marching Band will host “A Showcase of Champions” beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at Jack Munley Field. At present, 14 bands are scheduled to perform, including the Jaguars and the Jackson Liberty High School Lion Band. All are welcome to attend the event. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the gate.
• The Women of St. Monica, 679 W. Veterans Highway, Jackson, are looking for vendors, crafters and flea market sellers for their first craft/vendor fair and flea market to be held on Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The vendor and craft tables cost $30 and will be inside St. Monica’s Church Parish Hall. • The Plumsted library will host “Puppy Power: Seeing Eye Puppies” at 4 p.m. Oct. 10. Come meet the Seeing Eye puppies of the Ocean County 4H Club and learn about raising a Seeing Eye puppy. The program is for ages 5 and up. Details: 609-758-7888.
• The Plumsted library will host the County Connection Mobile Service Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21. The center provides senior citizen and veterans services, consumer affairs information, voter registration, and park and tourism information (there is a fee for certain services). • The Plumsted library will host a Halloween celebration at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24. The Teen Advisory Board will present games, crafts and treats for children ages 3 to 11. Wear a costume! Details: 609-758-7888.
• The Howell Women’s Club will meet on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Taunton School media center. Members and guests will assemble Halloween treat bags for the Howell Food Pantry clients and for senior citizens of Howell who receive Meals on Wheels. All area ladies are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring a bag of non-nut Halloween treats to the meeting. Coffee and refreshments will be served. The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month from September through May. • The Howell Women’s Club will meet on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Taunton School media center. The evening’s program will include planning to prepare Thanksgiving meals for homebound seniors who receive Meals on Wheels. All area ladies are welcome to attend. • St. Aloysius Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson, offers support groups to help people better understand their feelings and to meet others who are dealing with the same life issues. A bereavement support group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. and a divorced and separated support group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Both meetings are held in the parish office. • The United Republican Club of Howell will meet on Oct. 18 and Nov. 15 at the Howell First Aid Squad building, 16 Kent Road, Howell. Meetings start at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. • The Millstone Elks will host their first Antique and Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Millstone Township Middle School, 5 Dawson Ct., Millstone Township. All years, makes and models welcome; $15 pre-registration, $20 day of show. Free admission to all spectators. Proceeds to benefit children with special needs. Music by Wolfman Jerry. • Bat Shalom Hadassah of Jackson-Howell will host a Hootenany at Doolan’s Shore Club, Spring Lake, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27. There will be entertainment, a band for dancing and a complete lunch. Music will feature a tribute to performers of the 1960s, including Peter, Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio and more. • The Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority will hold its public meetings at 5:30 p.m. in its administrative offices at 135 Manhattan St., Jackson, on the following dates in 2016: Oct. 27, Nov. 17, Dec. 15; and on the following dates in 2017: Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 (reorganization).
