HOWELL – The township will hold a pair events to celebrate Halloween.
On Oct. 19 (rain date Oct. 20), a Howell-O-Ween Spooktacular will be held at Oak Glen Park, 251 Preventorium Road, from 5:30-8 p.m. A costume contest will take place at 7 p.m.
The Howell-O-Ween Spooktacular will feature a DJ, games, crafts and a hayride. Funnel cake, lemonade and cotton candy will be available for purchase.
Officials are asking attendees to bring pet food that will be donated to the Associated Humane Societies.
A “Trunk or Treat” event will take place at Target, 4955 Route 9 south, Howell, from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27. Children will go from car to car in the parking lot and receive Halloween treats. No unwrapped candy or homemade treats will be given out.
“Trunk or Treat” is sponsored by the Howell Police Athletic League (PAL) and the Howell Police Benevolent Association. There will be a costume contest for all attendees and vendors.
“Both events are well attended and fun for families and residents of all ages,” Mayor William Gotto said. “The township and the PAL are pleased to offer these events as a safe and affordable way for families and children to celebrate the Halloween season and I want to thank our staff and the members of the Howell Police Department and the Howell PAL for their help in arranging these great events.”
Vendors for “Trunk or Treat” are asked to call the PAL at 732-919-2825 or email Jaime Szyarto at [email protected] to reserve a spot. Vendors will be expected to arrive at about 5 p.m. to set up.
