CBA to induct five individuals, two teams into Hall of Fame

Five graduates and two athletic teams will be inducted into the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) Hall of Fame during a ceremony in November.

The Hall of Fame Gala will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Doolan’s Shore Club in Spring Lake.

The indivdual inductees for 2016 are:

  • Louis A. Aversano, Class of 1984. He is the chief executive officer for Ogilvy & Mather New York, an international advertising, marketing and public relations agency.
  • Sean Duffy, Class of 1970. He is senior vice president of investments with Stifel Nicolaus. He is a current member of the CBA Board of Trustees and a longtime benefactor of CBA. He was once a radio personality, too.
  • Lawrence R. Goldman, Class of 1984. He is the regional education director for Asia and the Pacific at FHI 360, which is an international not-for-profit organization that works to improve educational opportunities for children in poor communities located in Asia, Africa and Central America.
  • Nicholas J. LaBrocca, Class of 2004. He is a Major League Soccer player who is presently playing midfield for the Chicago Fire.
  • Timothy Sewnig. He is a 25-year member of CBA’s theology department. He is a veteran coach and the leader of CBA’s campus ministry and a former Peace Corps volunteer.

The teams inducted for 2016:

  • The 1967-68 wrestling team. This squad was the first at CBA to win a district wrestling tournament championship.
  • The 1972-73 boys’ basketball team. This unit is regarded as one of the most successful basketball teams in CBA’s proud history on the court. This team was a New Jersey power that winter when it won the Parochial A state tournament championship and finished 28-0.
