The Hightstown Rams Pop Warner Pee Wee division football team beat the Hamilton Revolution 26-6 in a divisional game on Sunday afternoon which was played at the Hightstown High School football field.
It was a cold and rainy day, which made throwing the ball tough. But the Rams ground game led the way. Jaylen Gundy ran for two touchdowns and Jazz Walker and Isaiah Thornton each added touchdown runs. Danny Wersching scored on a quarterback bootleg for one extra point and he also passed to Troy Curran, who made a nice grab, for the other extra point. Tyler Koerner added to the running attack with some tough yardage between the tackles.
The Rams running attack wouldn’t be able to do without the strong offensive line play of AJ Mackey, Sal Spinelli, Max Weingarten and Alex Herb. The Rams also welcomed back Ayden Hogan, who had missed the previous two games due to injury. Ayden was a force on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Liam O’Donnell once again did it all for the Rams as he played multiple positions on offense (offensive line and running back) and defense (defensive line and linebacker). Dylan Schendlinger led the defense with a nice interception to seal the victory. Bryce Gordon was a force in stopping the Hamilton running game and Matt Vingara was all over the Revolutions receivers and shut down their passing game . Odin Burk, Ethan Altaro and Alex Rodriquez all contributed to the strong defensive play by the Rams.
Next up for the Rams will be a tough playoff battle with the North Edison Shamrocks.
Mighty Mites win 8-0
Hightstown Rams Mighty Mites faced the Hamilton Revolution this past Sunday on the Rams’ home field in an epic defensive show down that saw the Rams prevail 8-0.
The Mighty Mites jumped out in front during the first quarter when Xavier Penn, Brandon Aristide and Joseph Conway tackled the quarterback of the Revolution in the end zone knocking the ball loose and recovering a fumble for a safety.
The Rams offense controlled the time of possession with yard-gaining drives led by the offensive line composed of Alex Mikita, Jack Conner, John Stanley, Sincere Corretjer-Ryans and Soham Srivastava.
The Rams ran hard downhill all game, executed by Trevor MaCarthy, Noah Francisco and Jaces Feyas. The game’s only score came on a grinding goal-line run by quarterback Daniel Krier.
The Rams defense was stingy all game with tremendous penetration from Aidin Lisk as well as Joshua Arias. The Revolution were close to breaking some big plays but the effort from defensive end Corey Pringley and game saving tackles from Caden Colon and Ben Duverglas proved to be more than the Revolution could handle.
