Luz Hulme and her children have had close ties with Rise for more than a decade, participating in programs and volunteering. Ms. Hulme’s children attended the Rise camp and now her niece and nephew continue the tradition.
She thinks that the camp is “better now and keeps improving every year. Most important it’s affordable to a lot of the families.”
So Ms. Hulme and her daughter Sofia stopped by the Rise Food Pantry Oct. 11 to deliver a $12,000 donation from the Church and Dwight Employee Giving Fund. Ms. Hulme is the 2016 sponsor for Rise at Church and Dwight and recommended Rise for the grant and has donated for years to the Thanksgiving Basket drive and Rise Food Pantry.
Ms. Hulme knows first hand how Rise helps the community. Her mom was struggling to make ends meet and signed up for help with her utility bills and to use some of Rise services to help her get by.
“It is nice to know that every little you do counts and there is somewhere to apply for help,” said Ms. Hulme. “Rise does a lot for our community and is more than a food pantry.”
