Information session will discuss SBPD re-accreditation

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be in South Brunswick from Nov. 7 through Nov. 10 to examine all aspects of the South Brunswick Police Department’s (SBPD) policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.

Verification that the SBPD meets the commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain initial national accreditation, a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.

As a part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments directly to assessors at a public information session from 7-8 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the main meeting room of the South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Rd., Monmouth Junction.

Community members may also reach assessors by phone from 3-4:30 p.m. Nov. 7 by calling 732-329-4000, ext. 7494, or by writing to CALEA at 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, Va. 20155.

Questions regarding the accreditation process may be directed to Police Capt. Christopher Giampietro at 732-329-4000, ext. 7471.
