Richard ‘Rich’ Lee McClellan

Richard “Rich” Lee McClellan, 61, of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at home.

Born in Trenton, Richard was raised in Levittown and graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1972. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rider College.

Richard currently served as Chairman of the Mercer County Democratic Committee. He was very active in politics for 30 years, holding many positions: Chief of Staff and confidential aide for former Mayor Glen Gilmore in Hamilton Township; Research Director for the Board of Chosen Freeholders in Mercer County; and he worked out of the Office of Sen. Shirley Turner. Richard also served as Director of Community Affairs for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Besides his love for politics, he loved to visit historical sites with his late wife, Suzanne Kenyon. Richard loved to read and was extremely well read. He was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Son of the late Charles McClellan and husband of the late Suzanne Kenyon, Richard is survived by his mother, Margaret (Misawic) McClellan; his three siblings: Michael McClellan and wife, Sharon, Cindy Ottinger, and Jeffrey McClellan and wife, Lindsay; his four in-laws: Donna Kenyon and husband, Kim Latkovich, John Kenyon and wife, Joan, Mary and husband, Michael Cooper, and John Rose; nieces and nephews: Michael, Kyle and Donovan McClellan, Michelle and Jeffrey Ottinger, Carolyn and Kate Latkovich, Heather Casey, Brian and Tim Kenyon, Robert Cooper, Marice Rose and Catherine Eshoo; a great-niece, Abreighanna; a great-nephew, Michael III; and many other family members and friends.

Catholic funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Hamilton Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton. Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery, 899 E. Lincoln Ave., Piscataway.
