A 52 year-old Raritan man was indicted on two counts of murder on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the December 2015 killing of a teenage girl and her mother.
A Somerset County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Ramon “Ray” Cadiz with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault and one count of second degree sexual assault.
According to officials, members of the Raritan Borough Police Department learned of the murders after responding to a wellness check for the residents of a First Avenue home.
When police arrived at the home, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officials said they entered the home and found the body of Kim Streath, 15, in the second floor master bedroom. The officers then cleared the home and preserved it as a crime scene in anticipation of the arrival of crime scene detectives.
Shortly thereafter, detectives with the borough police department, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit and Forensics unit arrived at the home. It was then that the body of Sandrar Guiseppe, 51, was located on the first floor of the home.
Acting Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said Mr. Cadiz was named the prime suspect and a statewide police broadcast was issued, describing him and the vehicle police believed he was using.
By midnight, police in North Brunswick located the vehicle parked in a secluded area at the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex. At 4 a.m., detectives approached the vehicle and found Mr. Cadiz sleeping in the driver’s seat. He was subsequently placed under arrest without incident.
Mr. Cadiz is currently being held in the Somerset County Jail, in Somerville, with bail set at $2 million.
