Jimmie Smith, 81, of Marlboro, passed away peacefully on Oct. 22 at home. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he lived in Iowa, Missouri, upstate New York and Wisconsin before settling in Marlboro 46 years ago.
He attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisc., and was a proud member of the first graduating class in 1959 of the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. Jimmie was a pilot for the U.S. Air Force and was later employed as chief pilot for M.P. McLean Securities, New York City.
He was predeceased by his son, Terry, and son-in-law, Wayne Connelly.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Anne; son, Timothy, and wife, Andrea; daughters, Marita Connelly, Jan Marie Durning and husband, Anthony; brother, Larry and wife, Annetta; grandchildren, Alexander, Carly, Michael, Kayleigh and Keaton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Oct. 25 at noon.
