My name is Bin Chen. I have been living in Edison since 2004. In the past two months, I participated in the campaign for Shannon Peng, a candidate for the Edison Board of Education.
I am deeply touched and inspired by Shannon and the way her campaign carried out. As an independent candidate, all her supporters and volunteers are regular residents, parents, working mothers, and school staff.
We squeeze out time from daily routines to knock on doors, distribute flyers, and make phone calls. As a mother of two children (in fact the only candidate this year with school age children), Shannon finds every opportunity to involve children – from having high school students design campaign T-shirts and lawn signs, to taking children along when knocking on doors.
She believes this is a good opportunity to strengthen the sense of citizenship and passion to serve in children who are the future of our community and society. Those small details aggregate to my strong confidence in Shannon. I believe she is the person that will really resolve a lot of the issues the Edison school community faces. As her running statement states: it’s our children, our property, and our community.
We are all in this together!
Please vote for Shannon Peng for the Edison Board of Education on Nov. 8. Her line is J-4.
