The Township of East Brunswick will hold its Veterans Day observance 6 p.m. Nov. 11 outdoors in Veterans Park, at the municipal complex, 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move indoors to the East Brunswick Senior Center.
The event is designed to thank and honor the men and women who served honorably in the U.S. military during wartime and peacetime.
Master of ceremonies will be Mayor Kevin T. McEvoy. Guest speaker will be John Meyers, who served in the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from East Brunswick High School in 2006. Paul Deutsch and Irwin Steinlight of the Vietnam Veterans of America will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Wreath bearers will be Thomas Coohill, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 133; Paul Deutsch and Irwin Steinlight; John Chunco, commander of AMVETS Post No. 34; and Christine and William Koch.
Other participants will be bagpiper John O’Keefe, Chaplain John Marmion, the Rev. Jill Ellen Collict, the East Brunswick Community Chorus, Boy Scout Troop No. 132 and No. 223 and the East Brunswick Girl Scouts.
The public is invited to attend the event, which is sponsored by the township of East Brunswick, Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services, and the East Brunswick Veterans Alliance.
