The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Rd., Edison, announces a guided morning tour of the Klimt and the Women of Vienna’s Golden Age, 1900-1918 exhibit at the Neue Galerie in New York City will be held on Jan. 12, 2017.
The exhibition will include approximately 12 paintings, 40 drawings, 40 works of decorative art, and vintage photographs of Klimt, drawn from public and private collections worldwide. Central to the exhibition will be the display of the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907), and the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer II (1912), which will be shown side-by- side for the first time since 2006. Adele Bloch-Bauer (Woman in Gold) was an important Klimt patron, and notably, the only subject the artist ever painted twice in full length.
After lunch on your own in the area or the Galerie, a tour, lesson and confection making will take place at Chocolate Works on the Upper West Side. Take home what you make.
The bus will leave the JCC on Oak Tree Road in Edison at 9 a.m. and return approximately at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $85 for JCCMC members; $92 for nonmembers; and includes bus transportation, tours, gratuity and snack. Space is very limited.
