EAST WINDSOR: Township council approves donation for Better Beginnings

The East Windsor Township Council has approved a resolution to provide a donation to Better Beginnings Day Care of East Windsor/Hightstown for day care services for the residents of the township.
In a 5-0 vote (with 1 abstention) at the Nov. 1 meeting, the council approved resolution 2016-183. Council Member Perry M. Shapiro was not present.
According to the resolution, a donation in the amount of $22,750 will be made to Better Beginnings. The funds have already been earmarked in an account titled “Better Beginnings Contribution,” and the donation will be made to assist the facility in continuing services through a program supervised and administered by the New Jersey Department of Human Services.
According to its website, Better Beginnings is a non-profit 501-c(3) organization founded in 1967 to provide affordable child care for working parents in the Hightstown-East Windsor area of Mercer County. It offers a full day educational program for children and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The next Mayor’s “Shining Star” Gala, an annual charity gala to raise funds for Better Beginnings, hosted by Hightstown Mayor Larry Quattrone, and East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov, is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor 
