The Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance named Lisa Wolff, president of the Hopewell Valley Regional School District Board of Education, the 2016 Volunteer of the Year during a recent public event.
Ms. Wolff received the award during the Hopewell Valley Mayors’ Breakfast, hosted by Capital Health Systems, for her “meritorious record of community leadership.”
Described as a “highly esteemed resident” of the state, officials said Ms. Wolff’s work for her community earned her the esteem of her peers and the state at large.
As a private Hopewell Township resident, Ms. Wolff is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
With her academic experience, she has since been working in the software and techonlogy industry for the last 25 years.
While serving on the Board of Education, however, she serves as chairwoman of the board’s policy committee, a member of the alternative resources committee and is a co-liaison to the municipal alliance.
Along with her time on the board, Ms. Wolff was also recognized for her work with the D&R Greenway, the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association and the Communities of Light project of Womanspace.
Officials praised Ms. Wolff’s efforts to better her community while taking in the support of her husband Paul Wolff and her two sons Zachary and Ryan.
Ms. Wolff was presented with a Joint Legislative Resolution during the Oct. 14 event by state Senator Shirley Turner and state Assemblywoman Elizabeth Maher Muoio.
The breakfast event also marked the 20th anniversary of the alliance’s “Healthy Communities/Healthy Youth Initiative.”
The alliance is part of a statewide network aimed at the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction –primarily for youth. The alliance supports and administers more than 20 programs and activities in three municipalities – Hopewell Township, Pennington Borough and Hopewell Borough – geared toward drug and alcohol awareness and education, positive youth development and overall public safety.
