A 22-year-old Lawrence Township man has been charged with drug and weapons offenses, after he was stopped on Washington Road at 11:35 p.m. on Oct. 29, according to the Princeton Police Department.
Joseph Stevens, 22, of Lake Drive in Lawrence Township, was stopped by police because he was not using a hands-free device for his cell phone while he was driving. During the motor vehicle stop, he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
While he was being arrested, police found he had less than 50 grams of marijuana on his person. Police searched his car, which turned up more marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also found pills for which he did not have a prescription, cocaine and a folding knife and an airsoft-style pellet gun.
For having the knife in his possession, Mr. Stevens was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was also charged with possession of an imitation firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon for having the airsoft pellet gun, police said.
He was charged with possession of suspected cocaine, possession of suspected prescription legend drugs, and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute for the suspected cocaine and the suspected prescription drugs,
And he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia/
He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $50,000 full bail.
