Man charged in Edison auto fatality

 

EDISON – A man has been charged with causing an auto crash that killed a 74-year-old Edison man on Nov. 5.

Christopher Ravita, 29, of Lebanon, was charged with death by auto for causing the death of Ronald Setlight according to a statement prepared Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department

During the investigation it was determined that Setlight was driving a 2015 Honda Accord on Grandview Avenue and was crossing Route 1 in Edison, when Ravita, who was heading south on Route 1 in a 2010 Volkswagen Golf, allegedly ran a red light and struck Setlight’s vehicle at 3:15 a.m.

Setlight was taken to a hospital in New Brunswick where he was pronounced dead a short time after the crash, officials said.

Bail was set at $50,000 for Ravita, who was being held for observation at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick as of press tie.

The crash is being investigated by Lt. Dominick Masi of the Edison Police Department and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with information should call Masi at 732-248-7400 or Heck at 732-745-3300.
