JACKSON – Voters have re-elected Ken Bressi, Barry Calogero and Rob Nixon to seats on the Jackson Township Council.

Bressi, Calogero and Nixon ran unopposed for four-year terms in the Nov. 8 election. The terms will run from January 2017 through December 2020.

According to results posted online by the Ocean County clerk, Bressi received 14,811 votes, Calogero received 14,014 votes and Nixon received 13,666 votes to win re-election. The results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.

Jackson has a nonpartisan municipal government and candidates do not run under the banner of a political party.

Calogero has lived in Jackson for 21 years. He has served on the council for four years.

In seeking re-election, he said, “During the next four years I vow to fight harder to push back on overdevelopment of residential building imposed on us by the state and its archaic affordable housing requirements. (I will) work smarter to reduce spending and continue to stay true to my commitment to make every resident feel they have a voice in local government.”

Bressi has lived in Jackson for 43 years. Bressi said he, Calogero and Nixon will not rest on their accomplishments as members of the governing body. He said they will have to continue to prove they can run Jackson in a way that has led people to have faith in their abilities and actions.

Nixon, who is serving as council president in 2016, has been a resident of Jackson for 11 years. Nixon said he and his colleagues on the council have expanded municipal services and the Jackson Police Department.

“I hope to build upon (the council’s) successes by standing up for what is right for the future of Jackson and ensuring our laws are enforced, our natural resources are protected from overdevelopment and that we focus on smart commercial development that provides services and benefits to our residents,” Nixon said of his goals for the next four years.
